Unfocus is a macOS menu bar app that helps you build a mindfulness habit by reminding you to close your eyes for a few seconds. We believe privacy is a right, not a feature. This policy explains exactly what data Unfocus does and does not collect.

Unfocus uses your Mac's camera solely to detect whether your eyes are open or closed, using Apple's Vision framework. The camera feed is processed frame-by-frame in real time on your device.
When you activate Unfocus with your license key, the app sends a hashed version of your key to the LemonSqueezy API over HTTPS to verify your purchase. No other personal information is included in this request.
Unfocus uses Sparkle to check for updates. This involves fetching an appcast XML file from our server. Your IP address may be recorded in standard server access logs. No other information is sent.
Your settings and session preferences are stored locally on your Mac using macOS UserDefaults. This data never leaves your device.
Unfocus does not retain any personal data. Session statistics (number of sessions, dates) are stored locally on your Mac and are never transmitted. You can delete all local data at any time by removing the app.
Since Unfocus does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data, there is no personal data to access, correct, or delete on our end. Your session data is stored entirely on your device and under your full control.
